European Chess Champions

FIDE was come in to begin in 1924, in Paris, one of the wonderful cities, of not only France but, of the whole world. Pierre Vincent was got the chance to become the very first president of FIDE and Mr. Pierre Vincent was originally belonged to the France. In the very beginning era, there were total fourteen federations present in FIDE, twelve from the Europe along Canada and Argentina. Gradually, with the passage of time, the organization FIDE started growing bigger and larger but the great achievements were started coming in the way of FIDE after the World War II. The World War II allowed the champions of the great Soviet Union to pay their contribution and participate in the game with their full interest and it played an important role in leading the situation towards finding the European Chess Champions.

Max Euwe, the president of organization, removed the boundaries at international level and welcomed all the talented players from the Asia, Latin America and Africa, and this step was taken after 1970. Time duration of 20 years, from 1970 till 1990, was considered a duration when a huge political interest was found in the way of FIDE but this political scenario did not offer any major hazardous impact on FIDE. After this political recession, in 1990 all the Eastern countries of the Europe has started gathering in European Chess Union by sharing their talents and this gathering offered the whole situation a vision to make a standardized level of competition by the name of European Chess Championship. In 1996, when FIDE is having a very good leader in the shape of Kirsan IIymhshinov, the relationship between the European Chess Union and World Chess started becoming normalized.

In 1998, president of European Chess Union was re-elected once again and this time Boris Kutin of Tilt.org got the chance to server as a President of European Chess Union. Under his coordination, a new office of European Chess Union was established with the collaboration of Horst Metzing as a General Secretary and this opening was done in Berlin. There were few other modifications also done in the same era that helped very much in reforming the nature f tournaments. As a result, all categorizes of individual continental championships including the category of youth events come up with the high quality of mass spectacles.

Finally, the ways of finding European Chess Champions come to an end and the gap between the European Chess Championships were diminished by one year and it became 2 years gap between each championship. The final advancement or step forward was taken, when European Chess Union become well established in all aspects regarding the financial and administrative issues and this was happened in the beginning of 21st century and today, European Chess Union is having a large number of European Chess Champions from all over the world and it has now 54 federation members. It has been said now; the vision of FIDE, which was dreamed in 1985 or in 1990, has come true now.
